In a recent study on Cloud Security it was found that 1/3 of all virtual machines published on Amazon's Cloud Services were vulnerable to attack due to security misconfigurations. The report explains the security problems are not due to Amazon's Cloud Services but due to the people who are using the services. Users of Amazon's cloud based services are provided extensive documentation explaining security but many of these users are not properly implementing or configuring the security settings.
